Mob torches truck in Salipur after it runs over man, niece

Salipur: Tension gripped Salipur area in Cuttack district in Odisha on Sunday
after truck hit a man and his niece on Luna river bridge road here.

The deceased were identified as Gajendra Pradhan (62) and Barsha Pradhan (12).

An irate mob gathered at the spot, set the vehicle afire and
later staged a road blockade near the accident site, demanding Rs 20
lakh compensation to the family of the deceased.

The duo was travelling on a bicycle when the accident took place.

The violent protest threw traffic out of gear for several hours with
rows of vehicles stranded on either side of the road.

Receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot,
seized the bodies and assured the agitators that their demand will be
looked into.
