Balangir: Police recovered a mobile phone from dreaded gangster Sushant Dhal Samanta’s cell during a recent raid on district jail in Odisha’s Balangir.
The massive raid was conducted and banned items, including tobacco products and a trimmer, were sized from the jail on Friday following a clash between rival groups in the prison. While the police had earlier informed baout seizure of some contraband, lighter and the trimmer, on Sunday, it was confirmed that a cell phone was also found from the gangster’s cell.
According to the police, Sushant is in Cuttack for eye treatment.
Police is investigating whether Sushant used to operate his crime network from inside the jail. Most importantly, a mobile phone in his cell when Sushant was not present in the jail, has taken everyone by surprise.
In March 2018, Sushant was shifted from Bhubaneswar’s Jharpada jail to Balangir jail after police unearthed his plan to carry out a murder in Cuttack.
