Bhubaneswar: With the Election Commission of India announcing October 21 as the date for the by-election to Bijepur Assembly, the model code of conduct has come into force with immediate effect.
Briefing media here on Saturday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Surendra Kumar said that the model code of conduct enforced in Bargarh district will remain in force till October 27.
He said a total of 2,32,005 people including 1,19,916 men, 1,12,074 women and 15 transgenders will exercise their franchise in 285 booths while about 1400 polling officers will be engaged in conducting the by-election.
