Nayagarh: As part of the state government’s plan to develop the facilities for devotees at Nilamadhav temple in Kantilo of the district, 5T Secretary VK Pandian visited the shrine on Thursday.
On the direction of chief minister Naveen Patnaik, the 5T secretary accompanied by Works Secretary Vir Vikram Yadav visited the shrine to take stock of its present condition.
After having darshan of the deities, the two officers discussed various issues with the district officials including the status of the ongoing development works. Senior district officials including Collector Poma Tudu were present. They took suggestions from the temple servitors regarding the problems and overall development of the shrine.
Located on the banks of river Mahanadi, Kantilo attracts a good number of tourists every year. Besides, the temple of Lord Nilamadhaba atop twin hills covered with forest is visited by the devotees.
The government plans to develop the facilities at the temple to attract more footfall of tourists under 5T programme, it was revealed at the meeting. The Public Works department will submit a master plan in this regard to the chief minister soon for his approval.
