Bhubaneswar: Mohan Charan Majhi is all set to take oath as the chief minister of the first BJP government in Odisha.
Hours before the all-important BJP legislature party meeting after which his name was announced as the next CM, Majhi was in a hospital morgue, consoling family members of his personal assistant, Chandan Mohapatra (31), who lost his life in a tragic accident. Mohapatra was hit by a speeding car near Nilakantha temple under Nayapalli police limits around noon when he was on his way on a two-wheeler to Majhi’s residence. His right leg was severely damaged and he sustained injuries on his head too. He was rushed to Capital Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
As the tragic news reached Majhi, he immediately showed up at the hospital and stayed there with the PA’s family members as the postmortem was being conducted. Mohapatra had been working in his residence-cum-office for the last five years.
Later, he went home and then to the meeting, where he was elected as the leader of the BJP legislature party, paving way for the formation of the first BJP government in the state.
