Mohana residents observe 12-hour bandh demanding basic amenities

Mohana: Residents of Mohana in Gajapati district observed dawn-to-dusk bandh here to protest against absence of basic amenities in the area.
Several commercial establishments, shops and markets remained shut, while vehicular movement was affected as agitators staged blockades at different places, including Mohana High School Chhak, seeking fulfillment of their seven-point charter of demands.
The protestors under the banner of Naba Nirman Surakshya Manch alleged safe drinking water and good roads elude the residents of Mohana.
“It is unfortunate that the district administration has failed to initiate any concrete step for development of the area, despite repeated requests,” an agitator said.
The agitators have threatened to intensify the stir, if their demands are not met at the earliest.
