Kolkata: A female employee of Raj Bhavan, who had accused West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose of molestation, said on Friday she will write to President Droupadi Murmu seeking her intervention in the matter.
The woman alleged that the Governor had committed “a new crime” by screening unedited footage of her identity.
On Thursday, Governor Bose screened multiple CCTV footage of Raj Bhavan in an attempt to clear allegations of molestation against him.
The woman said her face wasn’t blurred in the video, which was shown to 100 citizens, except chief minister Mamata Banerjee and Kolkata Police.
Last week, she had filed a police complaint about being sexually harassed by the Governor twice, but since police’s hands are tied because of Constitutional immunity Governors enjoy, the woman felt writing to the President was her only recourse to justice.
Saying that she was going through severe depression, the woman told PTI: “I know that because of Constitutional immunity, nothing will happen to a sitting Governor. But what about the offence he committed? I have decided to write to the President seeking her intervention in the matter. I am writing to her to get justice and nothing else.”
She further said that she will approach the police again about the Governor revealing her identity through the video.
Footage from two CCTV cameras, spanning from 5.32 pm to 6.41 pm on May 2, was shown to a select group of people and journalists at Central Marble Hall on the ground floor of Raj Bhavan a day earlier.
The contractual employee, dressed in jeans and a top, is seen hurrying to the police outpost within the Governor’s house amidst a significant number of police personnel deployed for the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on that day.
