New Delhi: Even as Union Health minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged Indians not to panic about rising monkeypox cases, states like Delhi are not prepared to take any chances.

The Delhi government has identified three private hospitals where monkeypox isolation wards will be set up – both for confirmed and suspected cases.

MD City Hospital, Batra Hospital and Kailash Deepak Hospital will reserve 10 beds each (five for confirmed and five for suspected cases) for isolation of monkeypox-positive cases.

The National capital reported its third case of monkeypox on Tuesday, when a second Nigerian living in the city was found to be infected with the virus. The 35-year-old man did not have any foreign travel history.

Kerala is the other state where cases are on the rise, taking the country’s tally to eight.

Kerala also reported India’s first monkeypox-caused death when the state government confirmed that a 22-year-old man who travelled from the UAE, died on July 30 after testing positive for the virus.
