Baghpat: A purported attack by of a troop of monkeys reportedly foiled a man’s attempt to rape a six-year-old girl at Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.
When the UKG student later narrated her ordeal to her parents, she said the monkeys ‘saved’ her, according to reports. The accused, who has been booked under POCSO Act, is still absconding.
Cops have launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Police said the accused had lured the child to an abandoned house at Dausa village on September 20.
The accused tried to sexually assault the minor, when suddenly monkeys arrived at the scene, reported the News 18. Scared of the animals, the accused ran away leaving the girl behind.
CCTV cameras installed in the village had captured images of the accused. The footage shows him taking the girl with him. The police are trying to identify the accused. Police said the accused was a resident of another village. He had spotted the girl playing outside her house.
Police said the accused had grabbed her hand and first took her to the street near a religious building. Later, he took her to an abandoned house. According to the police, the girl revealed to her parents that the accused had threatened to kill her and her family members if she would resist. The girl’s family had lodged a complaint with the police.
