Monkeys Loot Samples Of Suspected Corona Patients In Meerut

Meerut: A troop of monkeys here looted coronavirus test samples of three patients from Meerut Medical College on Friday.

The monkeys reportedly attacked a lab technician and also snatched the sample collection kit along with the patients’ samples.

While the doctors have collected the samples again, the monkeys have not been caught yet by the forest department, Chief Superintendent Dr Dheeraj Balyan told India Today.

“Monkeys are serial offenders in the region and such incidents have occurred in the past,” he said.

The incident triggered fear in the area as the samples are still in the possession of the monkeys, which could lead to the spread of the infection.

Meanwhile, the matter is being investigated by the authorities, Meerut district officer Anil Dhingra informed India Today.
