New Delhi: A 20 per cent increase in duty on umbrellas in the budget has come as a shocker to people. Why umbrellas? The middle class is asking.
Journalist and activist Sucheta Dalal asked if the government thought that umbrellas were obsolete due to work-from-home.
“What does FM have against Umbrellas? Hiked tax including in accessories! Huh?? You think people can get a digital umbrella in the rains? Or not needed due to WFH so businesses may as well wind up? #MonsoonBlues being felt already,” tweeted Dalal.
People are unable to fathom the news and are trying to digest it in a lighter vein. Here are some tweets:http://
