Bhubaneswar: As water-logging and flooding of low-lying areas remain a matter of concern during monsoon season in urban areas, the Housing and Urban Development Department has prepared an action plan for management of such a situation during the ensuing monsoon.
Director of Municipal Administration, Sangramjit Nayak, has in a letter to all collectors, municipal commissioners and executive officers on Wednesday listing the measures to be taken up on urgent basis to avert any flood-like situation and water-logging during rainy season and also at the time of disaster like excessive and heavy rain, flood, cyclone etc.
Some of the measures to be taken include drainage clearance, inspection and repair of drains, eviction from drain channels, identification of flood spots and de-watering of vulnerable water-logging and low-lying areas; repair and restoration of weak spots before the monsoon, take steps to de-congest drains and take steps to control vector-borne diseases.
