Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government on Saturday decided to organise an international-level ‘eco-retreat festival’ on Puri-Konark marine drive from December 14 to January 14.
As per a decision taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here, the ‘Marine Drive Eco-Retreat Festival’ will entertain tourists with adventure, water sports and cultural programmes. A food festival will be held simultaneously and luxury tents put up for the visitors.
A government statement said all concerned departments have been asked to give their best for the success of the month-long event, to be organised about 8 km from Konark along the coastline.
The festival is expected to give a big boost to the tourism potential of the state, popularise and promote the Puri-Konark marine drive and attract more tourists to the old town of Puri. It will be held at a time when tourists from the country and abroad visit Odisha in large numbers to enjoy the winter vacation.
The entire marine drive stretch will be beautified and special parking arrangements will be made to handle the rush of vehicles.
