Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cyber Department has made the first arrest in the cyber harassment case involving Akshay Kumar’s daughter Nitara Bhatia, according to reports. Authorities said further details about the accused and the investigation are awaited.
The case came to light in October 2025 when Akshay Kumar publicly recounted the disturbing incident during the inauguration of Cyber Awareness Month at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai. He said his then 13-year-old daughter was approached by an unknown pe
rson while playing an online video game.
According to the actor, the stranger initially sent polite messages before asking Nitara whether she was male or female. After she replied that she was female, the person allegedly asked her to send a nude picture. Kumar said Nitara immediately shut down the interaction and informed her mother, Twinkle Khanna.
Additional Director General of Police Yashasvi Yadav said Nitara’s decision to alert her parents helped authorities take up the matter. Officials said the accused was identified through technical analysis and digital tracking before being arrested. Investigators are also probing whether the person targeted other minors.
The incident had sparked widespread concern over online safety for children. Akshay Kumar had also urged the Maharashtra government to introduce regular cyber awareness classes in schools, warning that cybercrime was becoming more dangerous than street crime.
