Puri: Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal installed a 108-feet high monumental flagmast at Birharekrishnapur in Odisha’s Puri on Monday, symbolising the collective spirit of the country and its rich heritage.
The 36 feet long and 24 feet wide tricolour was dedicated by the Governor at the entrance of the seaside pilgrim town of Puri.
The flag hoisting was conducted following a joint endeavour of the Flag Foundation of India and the National Highway Authority of India (NAHAI), sources said..
This is the second monumental flag in Puri as the first one was hoisted some time back in front of Puri railway station.
The Flag Foundation of India has so far got as many as 106 monumental flagpoles in different parts of the country, they said.
The monument Tricolour was hoisted using an electronic device. Prominent industrialist and President of the Flag Foundation of India Naveen Jindal, was present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Ganesh Lal said the national flag has the colour of peace, friendship and goodwill.
Speaking on the occasion, Jindal said that the time has come for all Indians to be proud of flying the Tricolour at their residences and other establishments. Doing so will spread feelings of patriotism among the people, he added.
