Cuttack: In view of the rising cases of COVID-19 amid the second wave, the capacity of the COVID Care hospital at SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) here has been enhanced, Emergency Officer Bhubanananda Moharana informed on Friday.
He said that the number of beds for the infected has been increased to 500 from 315.
The ICU beds have also been increased to 63 from 43.
The newly-constructed ward of the Medicine Department will also operate as a COVID care hospital, he added.
Earlier, 256 general beds, 35 ICU beds and 12 ventilators were made operational in the COVID hospital functioning from the four-storey building of the eye department.
This apart, another 300-bed COVID hospital is being set up at Centre of Excellence building in pulmonary medicine department.
Cuttack city alone has 1182 of the total 2302 active cases in the district.
