According to the latest All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) on Saturday, more girls than boys in the age group of 18-23 are enrolling for higher education in Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.
The trend is more pronounced in Uttar Pradesh. There were 1.61 lakh more boys than girls in colleges and universities of UP. Now, there are 9000 more girls than boys. At 1,600 more than boys, the number of girls is marginally higher in Karnataka. Overall, female enrollment has increased from 47.6% in 2017-2018 to 48.6 % in the latest survey.
