Bhubaneswar: Under the influence of the low pressure over northwest Bay of Bengal, moderate to heavy rainfall was reported from many parts of the state with Paradip receiving 122 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
According to a morning bulletin of the Regional Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), here, Puri received 121 mm rainfall, followed by Chandbali (86mm), Balasore (46 mm) and Bhubaneswar (33 mm).
The Met office has forecast that moderate rain/thundershower with one or two intense/heavy spells of rain is likely in some parts of Sonepur, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Boudh districts in next three hours.
Light to moderate thundershower with lightning likely to affect some parts of Nayagarh, Dhenkanal, Deogarh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Puri, Khurda, Cuttack, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Dhenkanal, Gajapati, Rayagada, Sambalpur and Jajpur districts on the day.
The Met office has advised the people of the affected areas to avoid movement and make arrangement for drainage of excess water.
