Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm and lightning will occur in most parts of Odisha for three days, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its mid-day bulletin on Sunday.
According to the release, a cyclonic circulation formed over Bangladesh between 0.9 km and 2.1 km above the mean sea level has extended up to 3.1 km above the sea level. Under its influence, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over north Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of south Odisha with thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Deogarh, Boudh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Angul in the next 24 hours on Monday.
Besides, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places in the state with thunder squall accompanied by lightning at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal and the districts of north coastal Odisha while thunderstorm with gusty wind and lightning at one or two places over the districts Kandhamal, Puri, Nayagarh and Ganjam districts in the subsequent 24 hours on Tuesday.
Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at a few places over the coastal districts and light rain or thundershower at one or two places over the interior district on Wednesday. However, thunder squall with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the north coastal districts including Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj during the period, the release added.
Due to the inclement weather, fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea on March 5 as the wind speed reaching 25-35 kmph, gusting up to 45 kmph, will blow along and off the north Odisha coast and north-west Bay of Bengal making the sea condition very rough.
