More Rain To Lash Odisha From Tomorrow; IMD Issues Yellow Warning For 5 Days

Bhubaneswar: Moderate to heavy rain is likely to lash many parts of Odisha over the next five days. The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase again from Monday amid likelihood of formation of a fresh cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.

Several parts of the state, particularly coastal and adjoining areas, are likely to encounter thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD)has issued a yellow warning of heavy rains to 18 districts tomorrow. Heavy rain is expected to continue in the state till September 22.

According to a bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in districts including Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Nayagarh and Khurda on September 18. These districts are likely to receive rainfall from 7 to 11 cm.

Besides, thundershower along with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places in the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurdha, Ganjam, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati, Koraput and Malkangiri, predicted Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.

Districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Kandhamal, Nabarangpur, and Kalahandi may experience heavy rain on September 19.

In the past four days, the state witneessed a significant increase in rainfall, with an average of 110.5 mm recorded. This represents a substantial 231% increase over the usual rainfall of 33.4 mm.
