More Rainfall In Odisha As Fresh Low Pressure Likely Around August 23

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), which on Monday had issued red warning for extremely heavy rainfall in 10 districts of Odisha under the influence of a well-marked low pressure, said that the state will receive more rainfall as a fresh low-pressure area is going to form over the Bay of Bengal around August 23.

“Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the north-east Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood, a fresh low pressure area is likely to develop over the north-west Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood around August 23,” the IMD said in a mid-day bulletin.

On the prevailing low pressure over north-west Bay of Bengal, the national weather agency said that the low pressure which has turned into a well-marked low pressure over the north-west Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood will gradually move towards the west and concentrate into a depression in the next 24 hours. Under its influence, there will be extremely heavy rainfall in 10 districts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.
