Rourkela: The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela on Monday reported 7 more COVID-19 cases taking the total to 14 in the institution.
Of the 7 new cases, six are students and one is a staff of the institute, informed Rourkela ADM Aboli Sunil Naravane.
The infected students are in isolation and are being provided treatment on the campus, the ADM added.
Four students of the institute had tested positive for the virus between March 10 and 25. The first case (a student from Nagpur) was detected on March 10 while two more students tested positive for the virus on March 15 and 22. Another student was found infected on March 25.
Mass testing of all students of the NIT-Rourkela, began on Saturday. As per sources in the NIT, the tests are being jointly conducted by NIT authorities and local administration. The tests which were held for three days, concluded on Monday. After the tests the hostels will remain closed from March 30.
