Bhubaneswar: Even as Odisha on Sunday witnessed highest single-day COVID-19 surge in almost three months, its capital reported two-fold increase in new cases in 24 hours.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Sunday stated that as many as 170 new COVID positive cases were detected in the area under its jurisdiction in the last 24 hours. Compared to today’s figure, there were 83 COVID cases on Saturday, 70 on Friday and 69 on Friday.
All the new COVID cases were local contact cases. Patia reported maximum 35 cases, followed by 9 cases each from Chandrsekharpur, Jaydev Vihar and Nayapalli. Total 170 persons have recovered from the disease during the period.
While total 1,57,574 COVID positive cases have been detected in Bhubaneswar so far, 1,55,943 persons have recovered. There are 417 active cases in the city, while 1193 persons have succumbed to the disease.
