More Trouble For Ranveer Allahbadia: Parl Panel May Summon Him, Mumbai Cops Arrive At His Home

New Delhi: The parliamentary standing committee on communication and information and technology is likely to summon influencer Ranveer Allahbadia over his controversial “sex with parents” remark on a popular YouTube Show, ‘India’s Got Talent.’ According to reports quoting sources, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi and other senior leaders suggested that the panel should summon the well-known YouTuber and podcaster, who goes by the name ‘Beer Biceps.’ The development comes following complaints from several MPs and FIRs against Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina.

Meanwhile, a team of Mumbai Police also reached his residence on Tuesday to probe into the case. Sources said the Parliamentary committee was actively considering sending a notice to Allahbadia to answer questions linked to the row, reported the India Today. According to the report, action may also be taken against YouTube for airing the content.

Karni Sena plans meet to plan action against YouTuber, MPs react

BJD MP Sasmit Patra and Shiv Sena (MP) Priyanka Chaturvedi, members of the panel, had said they would take up the matter on Tuesday. Allahbadia’s crass remarks has triggered outrage across the country.

“It is extremely unfortunate… I want stricter guidelines and stricter measures for such disparaging remarks that are used so loosely, especially when such young impressionable minds follow such YouTubers,” BJD MP Patra had said.

Priyanka Chaturvedi said such “abusive language” in the name of comedy was not acceptable. She also recounted that the Prime Minister had given Allahbadia an award and his podcast had hosted several politicians. Allahbadia, who has 4.5 million followers on Instagram and 1.05 crore YouTube subscribers, was honoured by PM Modi at the first-ever National Creators Awards last year.

Meanwhile, the Karni Sena national president and national in-charge has called for a meeting to plan action against Allahbadia and other creators’ part of Samay Raina’s ‘India’s Got Latent’ reported Patrika.com.

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi had called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to “look more closely” at people he endorses publically amid the ongoing row.

Allahbadia seeks apology
Allahbadia issued an apology on X following the outrage after multiple people filed complaints against him. “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate; it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I am just here to say sorry. I personally had a lapse in judgment, it wasn’t cool on my part,” he said in a clip shared on X.

The Assam Police has also registered an FIR against the judges and host of the show, accusing them of promoting obscenity. The video of the episode has already been removed by YouTube after being instructed by the Centre, reports claimed.
