Bhubaneswar: A speeding vehicle triggered severe disruption on Cuttack-Puri Bypass early Monday morning after losing control and plowing into parked vehicles, leaving three individuals injured.
According to sources, the incident took place under the jurisdiction of Badagada police station when a car traveling at an estimated speed of 70 to 80 kmph suddenly lost control, crashing directly into seven parked motorcycles lined along the roadside. The force of the collision severely damaged the two-wheelers and struck three bystanders standing nearby.
The sudden crash caused immediate unrest at the scene. Frustrated by the reckless driving, local residents gathered and allegedly assaulted the driver. Badagada police responded swiftly to control the crowd and took the driver into custody for questioning. The injured were shifted to Capital Hospital for treatment.
Initial assessments by police indicated the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or other intoxicants at the time of the crash. Investigations is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.
