Sambalpur: A female black bear and her baby died following an accident on Podabalanda-Badmal road under Rairakhol forest division in Sambalpur district on Saturday. An unknown vehicle reportedly hit the animals.
Sources said that a vehicle hit the duo while they were crossing the road in Chalmal forest range in the early morning on Saturday.
The deceased bears are estimated to be aged about 25 years and 5 years respectively, according to Sambad English.
The forest officials rushed to the spot and disposed of the bodies after post-mortem.
