Angul: A mother-daughter duo died after the car, in which they were traveling along with a relative, met with an accident at Chheliapada near Khandahata on Angul-Athagarh road in Odisha’s Angul district on Thursday.
The deceased mother and daughter have been identified as Durgabati Pradhan and Sanjukta Pradhan, respectively. Their relative sustained severe injuries in the accident and was admitted to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) here.
According to sources, Sanjukta along with her mother and sister-in-law was en route to Athagarh from Angul when a speeding car, coming from the opposite side, rammed into their vehicle, which then overturned under the impact of the collision.
Hearing the noise, locals rushed to the spot, rescued the three women, and sent them to the Angul DHH, where the doctor declared Sanjukta and her mother dead on arrival. Treatment of the critically injured woman is on.
On being informed, Angul Sadar police reached the spot and launched a probe.
