Balangir: A woman allegedly killed her 6-month-old son by slitting his throat at Khaliapali village under Puintala police limits in Odisha’s Balangir district on Friday morning.
The accused mother has been identified as Mina Naga (38).
According to sources, grandmother of the infant found him drenched in blood when she came to give him an oil massage this morning. The baby was then rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and later shifted to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Mina’s husband said that she was mentally unstable and was under treatment. He had reportedly gone to take a bath in the pond when locals raised an alarm. He then rushed back home and took the baby to the hospital.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation to ascertain the circumstance leading to the incident. The woman has also been detained and is being questioned.
