Nabarangour: Three daughters of a woman have donated a three-storey building of the family to Jagannath Temple here as per the wish of their mother.
According to sources, Baijayantimala Sahu, staying in Bhagabati Sahi of the town breathed her last on December 2. She is survived by her husband Bhabani Sahu, who is bed-ridden, and three daughters.
Not blessed with a son, Baijayantimala had accepted Lord Jagannath as her son. She had told her daughters Pushpanjali, Gitanjali and Shradhanjali that she wished to donate the family’s three-storey building in the town to Lord Jagannath.
The building with 25 rooms is estimated to cost Rs 1 crore. As per their mother’s wish, 14 days after Baijayantimala’s demise, her daughters donated the building to the management committee of the Jagannath Temple in the town, the sources said.
Besides, they have donated a ‘Mangalsutra’ (wedding necklace) and silver ornaments to Goddess Parvati in the Nilakantheswar temple in the town.
It may be noted that a new temple has come up at the same place where the old Jagannath temple stood. The three centuries-old temple was demolished gradually for construction of the new temple.
