Motorcyclist Burnt Alive In Hit-&-Run On NH-149 In Odisha’s Angul



Angul: A motorcyclist was burnt alive after his two-wheeler was allegedly hit by a vehicle on National Highway-149 near Tamakoi Bridge under Samal police limits in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Deepak Pradhan, a resident of the


Turang area. His co-rider sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

According to sources, the accident took place when Pradhan and his pillion rider were traveling from Khamar towards Pitiri. While the pillion rider was thrown onto the road, the rider remained trapped under the motorcycle, which caught fire immediately following the crash and was dragged for nearly 20-30 metres along the highway.

On being informed, Samal police reached the spot, rescued the injured youth, and rushed him to Khamar Community Health Centre. He was later shifted to Angul District Headquarters Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

A detailed investigation is underway to trace and identify the vehicle responsible for the hit-and-run.

Angul district, traversed by major highways like NH-149, has witnessed several serious road accidents in recent years, including vehicle collisions and fiery crashes that have claimed lives.
