Bhubaneswar: Odisha has emerged as the best sports model in the country due to bold initiatives and dedication of the state government, said Dr Achyuta Samanta, Kandhamal MP.
Speaking at two-day Bihar Sports Conclave-2022, organised by the Bihar government at Patna on Thursday, Dr Samanta said, “One has to take lead with utmost dedication and selflessness to take the state to a new height in the sports sector. First of all, we have to create the best sports infrastructure.”
He further said Odisha has become the sports capital of India due to special interest of chief minister Naveen Patnaik who given importance to sports. “The Odisha government has created world-class sports infrastructure and is organising national and international events. The state has also produced many national and international sportspersons,” he added.
Stating that Odisha gives highest prize money to national and international sportspersons in the country, he said every state should follow this model.
The founder of KIIT and KISS said these institutions have an enormous contribution to sports and have given importance to sports as part of curriculum. “KIIT and KISS are the only educational institutions in the country that have created world-class sports infrastructure. Today national and international sports events are oeganised in the campus,” he said.
The event was inaugurated by Dr Alok Ranjan, Bihar Minister of Art, Culture and Youth. Among others, Rahul Bose, president, Rugby India, and eminent sportspersons and coaches were present in the programme.
