Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has made it clear that he won’t tolerate any indiscipline.
Yadav, an OBC candidate who was BJP’s surprise choice after the saffron party swept to power in MP last month, removed a district collector from office on Wednesday.
Kishor Kanyal, district collector of Shajapur, had triggered controversy after questioning the ‘aukat’ (status) of a driver during a protest by truckers in the state.
Stating that such type of language was not acceptable, the CM directed that an order be issued by Madhya Pradesh government to shift Kanyal to the post of state deputy secretary.
A video of the incident showed Kanyal asking drivers not to take the law into their hands.
When a representative of the drivers asked him to talk nicely, a furious Kanyal said, “Kya karoge tum, kya aukat hai tumhari?”
He replied that drivers are fighting a battle precisely because they don’t have any “aukat” (social standing).
The man was then whisked away by a policeman.
Kanyal later expressed regret for losing his cool and hurting anyone.
The chief minister lectured Kanyal.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we work for the uplift of the poor. No matter how big an officer is, he should respect the work and feelings of the poor. As a human being, this kind of language will not be tolerated under our government,” said Yadav.
“I believe that officers who speak such language don’t deserve to be in the field posting. I expect that the officer posted there (as Shajapur collector) will keep a check on such behaviour. I am pained by this,” the CM added.
