Bhopal: Two minor brothers were found dead in a car parked outside Pipariya railway station in Madhya Pradesh’s Narmadapuram district on Sunday evening, hours after their father allegedly died by suicide on the tracks.
The bodies of Ajay Dhakad’s sons, Samarth, 13, and Shivay, 11, were discovered in a car parked at the station on Sunday evening, several hours after Dhakad was run over by a train. Police said the children were found between the front and rear seats, covered with a bedsheet.
Father’s Death First
Dhakad, a patwari (revenue department official) posted in Udaipura in Raisen district, allegedly died after coming under the Sanghamitra Express near Pipariya station at around 4 pm. He was a resident of Bareli in the neighbouring Raisen district.
About two hours later, railway and police personnel found the boys’ bodies inside the locked car in the station parking area. Samarth studied in Class IX, while Shivay was a Class VI student, as reported by The New Indian Express.
Strangulation Suspected
Officers said marks on the necks of both children have led them to suspect that they were strangled. However, the police have not reached a final conclusion, and the post-mortem reports are awaited to determine the exact cause and time of death.
Investigators are working on the possibility that Dhakad killed the boys, left their bodies in the vehicle and then walked towards the tracks to end his life. No motive has been officially established.
CCTV Trail
Footage from cameras in the station’s parking area reportedly captured Dhakad reaching the spot in the car at around 2 pm. The visuals allegedly show him parking the vehicle and leaving the premises alone, leaving the children inside.
Police are scrutinising the footage and gathering details of Dhakad’s movements before the incident to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Family Account
According to relatives, Dhakad had told family members that he was taking the boys out to watch a movie. Before leaving Bareli, he had reportedly accompanied his wife to a local market for shopping.
The family came to know about the deaths only hours later. A police team has been camping in Dhakad’s village and is yet to record the statement of his wife as part of the investigation.
Narmadapuram Additional Superintendent of Police Abhishek Rajan confirmed Dhakad’s identity, his native place and his posting.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the deaths were being investigated and further action would depend on the post-mortem findings, forensic evidence and statements recorded during the probe.
