Cuttack: The authorities of Madhusudan Law College in Cuttack on Thursday declared sine die after a girl student attempted self-immolation on the campus.
According to reports, the student, a presidential candidate of the college, tried to immolate self by pouring kerosene on her body following cancellation of her nomination papers. She was, however, rescued by some students and staff of the college.
Following the incident, a group of students went on the rampage and vandalized rooms and furniture in the college.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Utkal University, BJB College, University of Law and several other colleges had earlier declared sine die following pre-poll violence on the campus.
On the other hand, students of the Bhadrak College locked the main gate and demonstrated by burning tyres to protest against the attack on a student by outsiders.
