Hyundai i20
Hyundai launched the new i20, a facelifted version of the current model with a few cosmetic changes. While the petrol model is priced from Rs 5.35 lakh – Rs 7.90 lakh, the diesel car is priced between from 6.73 lakh – 9.15 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. The new i20 gets new all-black interiors with red and orange highlights on the dual tone body coloured variants. CVT variants are expected to be launched in May this year.
Toyota Yaris
“Yaris is our answer to the volume segment sedans. Since the car comes with lots of industry-first features like seven airbags, all four disc-breaks, automatic version even in base models, we hope to repeat what the Corolla has done to the premium sedan segment with Yaris,” said D Raja, deputy MD for sales & service at Toyota Kirloskar Motor.
Honda CRV
Honda showcased its 5th generation CRV which will be launched with the much-awaited diesel version and 7 seats. The 1.6 litre i-DTEC diesel engine will produce 157 bhp power and 350 Nm of torque. It will be mated to 6 speed transmission.
Kia Motors
Kia, the South-Korean automobile giant, made its official entry announcement at the Auto Expo. Kia is building a plant capable of producing 3 lakhs units per year here in India that is expected to be completed by 2019. It will launch a compact SUV by 2019 and 16 electric vehicles by 2025.
Tata Motors H5X
Tata Motors unveiled its concept SUV – the H5X based on Land Rover.
BMW
BMW unveiled two new superbikes – F 750 GS and F 850 GS at the Auto Expo. The ex-showroom prices of the BMW F 750 GS and F 850 GS are INR 12,20,000 and INR 13,70,000 respectively. Both the motorcycles are powered by a 853 cc, 2-cylinder in-line engine. The F 750 GS produces 57 kW (77 hp) at 7500 rpm and the F 850 GS generates 70 kW (95 hp) at 8250 rpm. “GS represents a perfect synthesis of touring and long-distance capability combined with sporty dynamics and supreme off-road performance.” said Mr. Timo Resch, Vice President – Marketing and Sales, BMW Motorrad.
BMW also showcased the hybrid sports car i8, 6 Series Gran Turismo and the new M5. MINI Countryman will be locally built at the BMW Group factory in Chennai and will be available in 3 variants – MINI Countryman Cooper S, MINI Countryman Cooper S JCW Inspired and one diesel variant – MINI Countryman Cooper SD.
