Bhubaneswar: The state government has set the target to complete the multi-storey parking facility in Nandakanan Zoological Park within two months.

After taking stock of ongoing works on the project during a visit, chief secretary Suresh Mohapatra directed the Works department to meet the deadline and float tenders for maintenance of the parking lot.

The parking lot, tipped to be the biggest in the state, will accommodate 1500 four-wheelers and 600 two-wheelers at a time. Besides, it will have the facility of water and power supply as well as lift.

The chief secretary also directed to draw a master plan for development of the areas in front of the zoo and a bus stand. Stating that over 35 lakh visitors come to the zoo, he told the officials to make the toy-train operational by March-end.

Mohapatra also visited the recently acquired 8-sq km Chudangagad forest for the zoo and directed the Works department to complete the construction of boundary wall by the end of June. The area will be developed as a jungle safari.

Besides, he directed to complete the road from Nandankanan to Jaydev Vihar including a bridge over a spring. Senior officials of the departments concerned accompanied the chief secretary.
