Multiple Death Threats To Mukesh Ambani: 2 Teenagers Arrested By Mumbai Police

Mumbai: Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch arrested two teenagers on Saturday for allegedly sending death threat emails to Reliance Industries Chairman and MD Mukesh Ambani.

Police first nabbed Ganesh Ramesh Vanpardhi, a 19-year-old man from Telangana, who was accused of sending multiple threat mails to Ambani. Later in the day, another accused identified as Shabad Khan (19), was arrested from Mumbai’s Gamdevi area.

The two young men initially demanded ransom money of Rs 20 crore from Ambani. They then kept hiking the ransom amount to Rs 400 crore in a series of threat emails.

The VPN network that was used to send the emails was detected in Belgium.

“We are interrogating the accused who have been remanded to police custody. Primarily, it looks like mischief but we are questioning to find out more details about the emails and network used by the accused,” a senior police officer aware of the development told India Today.

Ambani, one of the world’s richest businessmen, received threat mails on October 27 from a single email ID, followed by further mails on Saturday and Monday.

The accused even threatened to kill Ambani if he did not pay Rs 200 crore in one of the emails.
