Mumbai: Mumbai Police constable Ganesh Rayate, 41, who was deployed to guard Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments residence, reportedly died after suffering a suspected heart attack while on duty on Friday evening.
According to a report in The Free Press Journal, Rayate was attached to LA-4 of the Mumbai Police and was on duty when he complained of uneasiness at around 6 pm. His colleagues immediately rushed him to Bhabha Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Police officials suspect that Rayate suffered a heart attack while performing his duty. His body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the exact cause of death will be established after the medical report.
The incident comes amid heightened security around Salman Khan.
The actor’s security was upgraded to Y-plus in 2024 following the murder of his close friend and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique.
According to reports, the security cover includes personal security officers and a police escort vehicle that accompanies him while he travels.
Last year, while speaking to the media about his heightened security, Salman said, “God, Allah — it is all in His hands. One lives exactly as long as is ordained; that is all there is to it. Sometimes, having to move around with so many people becomes a problem.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Salman will next be seen in Apoorva Lakhia’s war drama ‘Maatrubhumi’.
He has also joined hands with Telugu filmmaker Vamshi Paidipally for an upcoming action film, which also stars Nayanthara.
