A family court in Mumbai has granted divorce to former media baron Peter Mukerjea and his estranged wife Indrani on Thursday. Both are facing trial in the murder case of Sheena Bora, Indrani’s daughter from a previous marriage.
The couple had moved the family court in suburban Bandra in September last year, seeking divorce by mutual consent, according to a report in The Hush Post.
Their divorce settlement included division of assets, including the couple’s properties in Spain and London, bank deposits and other investments.
Indrani, who is also a former media executive, had served Peter Mukerjea a notice for divorce on the grounds that their marriage had “irretrievably broken down” and there was no chance of reconciliation. 47-year-old Indrani and 65-year-old Peter Mukerjea married in 2002.
Both are in jail under judicial custody since their arrest in the Sheena Bora murder case 2015.
