Mumbai: As many as 11 people were killed and six others trapped in a landslide at Vashi Naka’s New Bharat Nagar in Chembur on Sunday after a torrential downpour in the city for few days.
The NDRF and BMC said that four to five hutments in the area were crushed following the landslide that occurred at around 1 am.
The NDRF and other teams immediately rushed to the spot for the rescue act and have retrieved at least 11 bodies so far.
It is feared that another six to seven people are trapped under the mounds of earth and efforts are on to rescue them.
