Murder Accused Attempts Suicide In Police Station In Berhampur

Berhampur: An accused in a murder case attempted to commit suicide in a police station in the city on Thursday. He was admitted in a hospital and his condition was serious.

Police arrested Pramod Dalai of Kabisuryanagar on Thursday night in connection with the murder of Bibhu Prasad Das of Hinjili in Taptapani jungle over ganja trade on May 23 last.

While Pramod was in Patapur police station, he went to the latrine and consumed phenol in an apparent attempt to commit suicide.

He was rushed to Adapada Community Health Centre (CHC) and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur where his condition was stated to be serious.

The family members of Pramod have claimed that he was not involved in the murder case. The marriage of Pramod was fixed a few days ago.
