Koraput: An accused in a murder case reportedly escaped from custody of police in Odisha’s Koraput district on Saturday evening.
According to sources, one Bikun of Koraput town had left his house with some people last year. As he did not return home, his family searched for him at all possible places. Unable to find him, they filed a complaint at Koraput Town police station alleging that Rahul Bagh of Hinaguda in the town had kidnapped Bikun.
Later, the body of Bikun was found from a forest area in Bilaghati on Jeypore-Koraput National Highway 26. Rahul was absconding since the day Bikun went missing.
On Saturday, Bikun’s family found Rahul in the town and caught hold of him. Later, they handed him over to the police.
But Rahul managed to give a slip to the police and escaped from Koraput Town police station within an hour of his arrest, said the sources. The police have launched a manhunt to trace Rahul, they added.
