Bhubaneswar: After evading police dragnet for four years, a murder accused was arrested in Dhauli area of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Nilu Panda, has been on the run since June, 2019. He was arrested by the personnel of Dhauli police station following a tip off, a senior police official said.
He said that Panda and three others had attacked a man, identified as Balsidhar Kalia, on June 17, 2019 following an argument during Raja Mahotsav celebration in Dhauli area.
The man died after being brutally attacked with a wooden plank by the four accused persons.
While three others had been arrested following a complaint lodged by the deceased man’s son, Nilu had been absconding. After getting a tip off that he would be visiting Dhauli area, a police team kept a watch and apprehended him when he reached the locality, the police official added.
