Murder Convict Lodged At Keonjhar Jail Dies

Keonjhar: A murder convict, serving 10-year jail term, died while undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital here on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Bipin Nayak, a native of Hisaburu under Barbil police limits. He had been lodged in Keonjhar district jail since 2017 after a court sentenced him to 10 years of imprisonment in a murder case.

According to sources, Nayak was admitted to the hospital after he complained of chest pain and vomiting this morning. However, he succumbed to his illness.

Though the actual reason behind his death is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the prisoner suffered a cardiac arrest and died. The postmortem report will shed light on the reason of the death, Jail Superintendent Gariba Sahu informed.
