Boudh: A man serving life imprisonment for murder was found hanging at the special sub-jail in Odisha’s Boudh district.
The deceased, identified as Ravindra Meher of Jamaghati village under Baunsuni police station limits, had been to the wash room of the jail after having dinner.
According to sources, some prison inmates later found his body hanging from the bathroom ceiling with a towel. While it is suspected that the prisoner died by suicide, the exact reason is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, a police team rushed to the jail and recovered the body which was sent for post-mortem to the district headquarters hospital (DHH).
Meher was arrested in 2015 in a murder case. He was convicted by a court and sentenced to life imprisonment in 2018.
Sources said that Ravindra was also undergoing treatment for mental illness.
