Balasore: The mother and stepfather of a 13-year-old girl were sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Odisha’s Balasore district for killing her last year.
District and Sessions Judge of Balasore Biswajit Das convicted Baby Biwi and her second husband Sk Abdul Rahim and awarded life term for the two.
The court also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 each on the convicts. In case of failure to pay the penalty, they will have to undergo additional jail term of 6 months
According to prosecution, the woman along with her second husband had killed her 13-year-old daughter, born to her first husband, last year.
The complaint was lodged by the deceased girl’s biological father Sheikh Qutbuddin at the Balasore Town Police Station on June 22, 2022. The two were held on the basis of the complaint.
The court pronounced its verdict after examining several witnesses and other evidence.
