Murder-Suicide Suspected After Indian Family Falls To Death In London

London: A tragic incident involving an Indian-origin family in London is being investigated as a suspected murder-suicide after a couple and their nine-year-old son fell to their deaths from a luxury high-rise apartment building in south London.

The victims were identified as Rakesh Pai, 47, his wife Aditi Paralkar, 46, and their son Sid. The family reportedly fell from their 36th-floor apartment last month. Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving reports of people falling from a height, but all three were pronounced dead. Authorities have launched an investigation and an inquest is expected to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths.

According to media reports, Sid suffered from multiple serious health conditions, including kidney disease, learning di

fficulties and partial physical disabilities. He was unable to speak and required extensive care. Reports citing family friends said the boy had been receiving treatment for years and that his parents had even taken him to India in search of specialised medical care before returning to the United Kingdom.

The couple, both originally from India, had moved to the UK in the early 2000s and built successful professional careers. Rakesh worked in finance, while Aditi held senior positions in the construction sector. Friends described them as hardworking and devoted parents who dedicated much of their lives to caring for their son.

British media reports suggested that the family may have been struggling with the emotional and practical challenges of Sid’s deteriorating health. Some reports claimed doctors had informed the parents that no further treatment options were available for the child, although these claims have not been independently confirmed by authorities. Friends also said Aditi had reportedly suffered from depression linked to her son’s medical condition and the pressures of caregiving.

Neil Coyle, the Labour MP for Bermondsey and Old Southwark, described the incident as a “terrible tragedy” and said police believed the child’s severe illnesses may have contributed to the family’s decision. However, investigators have stressed that inquiries remain ongoing and that all possibilities are being examined.
