Balangir: An elderly couple was found dead inside a government quarter at Chandrasekhar Nagarpada area in Balangir town on Monday.
Police identified the deceased as Brundaban Sahu and his wife, Nirash Sahu, of Kudasingha village under Sadar police limits.
While Brundaban’s body lay on a bed, Nirash was found tied to a window with a plastic rope around her neck.
Police said circumstantial evidence pointed to murder, but the exact cause of death will be ascertained only after post-mortem.
According to reports, the couple was earlier staying in a thatched house. But locals shifted them to the government quarter after their house was damaged.
