Bhubaneswar: Popular Odia music director Goodly Rath and noted singer Pami Mishra joined the Congress in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.
Both joined the Congress during a programme in presence of the party’s Odisha in-charge A Chellakumar, OPCC president Sarat Pattanayak and several senior state leaders.
Party leaders said the organisation is likely to receive a major boost in the state with the two prominent and popular personalities from the world of music joining Congress.
After joining the party, Goodly said that he decided to join Congress as his father Gangadhar Rath was in the grand old party.
Moreover, the ongoing Bharat Jodo Yatra undertaken by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has inspired him to join the Congress, he said, adding that OPCC chief Sarat Pattanayak had also invited him to accept the membership of the party.
Several other Congress leaders had also urged Goodly as well as Pami to join the party.
The joining programme coincided with an important meeting held by the party to chalk out strategies for the 2024 elections.,
