Bhubaneswar: Hours after the arrest of the fifth accused in the murder of the well-known Ollywood music director Sumanta Mohanty, former Odia actress Bidusmita Mantri on Sunday came up with shocking details of the crime.
Talking to a private channel, Bidusmita said she was very close to Sumanta who was like her elder brother.
Narrating the incident, she said, “Immediately after I received the news, I rushed to Chakeisiani with my younger brother and found the Maruti car of Sumanta inside the canal. Police later pulled the car and brought out his body. As the police came to know about my relationship with Sumanta, they took me to Mancheswar police station to collect the details”.
Bidusmita claimed that Sumanta’s murder was pre-planned. “As far as I know, the five killers were junior to Sumanta in the Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in the city. During the college days, they had enmity with Sumanta over some incident,” she said.
In order to take revenge, they called him to attend a music programme on October 10, 2008. As soon as Sumanta arrived, they took him to a secluded place and brutally tortured him.
“I noticed several injuries including cigarette burns on the body of Sumanta. Even his private part was severed. After night-long torture, they killed him,” Bidusmita alleged.
Expressing happiness that all the accused have been arrested, she demanded exemplary punishment for them for their brutal attack on Sumanta.
